Be Strong in The Lord
Paul came to Ephesus on his second missionary journey. On his third missionary journey, he spent two years in Ephesus, teaching. Then he went to Jerusalem where he was arrested and sent to Rome. In prison in Rome, Paul wrote the books of Colossians, Philippians, Ephesians, Philemon, and other prison letters, likely around AD 61-63.
In prison, Paul wrote to the churches in Ephesus (which is part of Turkey now). He wrote :
• What they must do – To be strong
• Why they must be strong
• How to be strong
After the Epistle of Ephesians to the churches in Ephesus, they never heard from Paul again. It was therefore right for him to say, “Finally…”
• Ephesians 6:10
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
• Be Strong in the Lord
• Be Strong in the Power of His might
These are the two essential entities for every Christian living in this world. Why do we need to be strong? So that we can stand against the cunning arts, deceitfulness, craftiness, and trickeries of the devil.
We need to stand strong in the Word of God because of these four levels of demonic powers. Rulers of darkness are the ones who rule over believers and unbelievers. They instruct principalities and powers to carry out his instructions. We stand strong not to let them rule over us.
To be strong in the Lord is to be strong in His grace and truth. Truth is in the Word. To be strong in God or strong in the Lord:
• Is to know and be grounded in the Word
• Then to stand strong in the Word; not compromising the Word, be unmovable
